Anxiety and stress are among the things that can happen for many reasons to disturb people’s life and spoil their enjoyment, which can affect their personal life, work productivity or even their social relations. It does indeed bring other negative effects to the body and mind that can be very harmful and cause issues in the long term. Life can be hectic sometimes that it doesn’t give us a space to take our breath, set our plans and move forward with a good spirit because life could be hitting us with many events and problems. Indeed, each one of us has a certain ability to resist and ways to deal with things, and everyone passes through hard times, but those who are believers will only make it.
Allah gave us a guide for everything in our life, in thick and thin, happy or sad, even in our stressful times, He guided us through the Holy Book and the Sunnah on how to deal with crises and breakdowns, and here we are providing you with a short guide to deal with stress and keep your spirit high:
1. Change your Situation
This is enough booster to let you change your life conditions. Whether you were living a certain lifestyle that does not please Allah or you were having bad company of friends that keep hurting you or underestimate your value, you must consider changing yourself to have your situation changed for the better.
Although this verse may hold many meanings and could be applied to various situations, yet it is in fact applied to stressful situations that a person passes through as well. So in order to have your life switched by Allah, you must change in yourself to the better, in what pleases Allah.
2. Increase your Remembrance of Allah
This promise is a nourishment for the heart and soul. Remembering Allah should start from the heart and then be transmitted by good actions. The frequent remembrance of Allah protects you from fear, anxiety, and constriction of the heart. Allah is capable of changing your situation in a blink of an eye, yet sometimes he delays the answer because he loves to hear your voice more and he misses it, so you need to be patient and consistent until you get the relief. Take as your cure that will have an effect on you after a while of perseverance.
Some forms of remembering Allah that you can adopt as habits:
Reading the Athkar of morning and evening, reading Surat Al Waqi’a after Maghrib, reciting Surat Al Mulk before going to bed after Ishaa, and reading Surat Al Kahf on Fridays.
Not only your problems will be relieved, but you will also benefit from a lot of Ajer by the remembrance of Allah and seeking his help, and the angels will get to know your name as well.
3. Rely on Allah in all your Matters
No matter how big or small your issues are, always rely on Allah and delegate him to manage your life and choose the best for you. If you rely on people, they might let you down, be unavailable to serve you or they might even travel or die. Yet Allah, The Almighty and The Everlasting, will never let you down and will always listen to you, at any time and place. He is your Healer and the only saver.
Everything is in the hands of Allah and He is aware of it all , so we believers, should not worry!
4. Always Return Back to Allah
All believers’ patience will be tested in this life, in different forms of disasters and deprivation, so good tidings will be offered for the patient. The least thing that Allah taught us to say when a calamity occurs is "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” He does know how stressful and difficult some times could be for a person, so he promised us a lot of good returns, in life and the hereafter as well. So, never be late to turn to Allah because he is your only refuge.
5. Stop Chasing the Dunya and Turn to Allah
Stop overthinking things that are not in your hands or things that are over. You cannot change the past nor depict the future, so simply live in your present and enjoy the moment because it will become a memory, so make sure to create a good one. Make a plan for yourself with clear goals and objectives that you want to work towards reaching, so you can focus on the essentials.
When you are doing something, complete it then move to something else to avoid confusion and clash of ideas and efforts. Use time in the right direction and take advantage of your time and good health to be productive by benefiting yourself and others. Be systematic in your life and learn to use your time properly so you will be able to achieve your goals.
This life is mortal and will not last forever, so focus on what pleases Allah to gain the hereafter.
6. Always Make Dua’a
Praying to Allah is very important, as He is the only one able to remove the tension and stress from one’s life and bring back his power and confidence in his actions.
Here are some Dua’as that the prophet ‘peace be upon him’ taught us, to get rid of sadness, depression and stress:
You need to stop being overwhelmed by your worries and make all your concerns about Allah the Almighty and the hereafter. Increase your faith level and rely upon Allah the Great, and you will see the major shift in your life, in terms of relieving stress and bringing joy to your days.
It was mentioned by the ancestors that “If Allah loves his servant, he afflicts him.” We fortify ourselves by Allah and we seek protection and support solely from him, because He created us so he knows us better.
